AIO: All in one toy
The AIO toy was a
collaborative project in a team of several students to produce an alternative
to the mass consumption and use of plastic by the toy industry, trying to
reduce the quantity products used by children without compromising on the main
developmental stages of play that children benefit from. The idea I came up
with was for a modular toy that could transform into different items via a
simple mechanism adjustment.
Starting off with building blocks, moving to
dolls, puzzles and then a board game. We wanted to produce an item that would
stay with the individual their entire life, focusing our research on
sustainable materials that were both durable and aesthetically pleasing. We even
made a prototype and a 3D rendered version that included a storage box that
doubled as a base for the board game, for which the pieces would be pawns.
